Seminar: The ongoing global mass extinction: finding ways out of the biodiversity crisis The aim of this course in conservation biology is to obtain profound knowledge about the ongoing biodiversity crisis and to think about ways out of this crisis. We will first cover the scientific basis behind the anthropogenic global mass extinction and what steps have already been taken to stop this mass extinction. Next, we will discuss different strategies to halt the biodiversity crisis. Finally, we will devise a summary of the results and a strategy for public outreach. This seminar is open to all students of biology, including aspiring teachers.Students will develop in-depth knowledge of a real-life biological problem which is threatening life on Earth - the human-mediated mass extinction of species. |
